Ganesh Chaturthi Festival - Hinduism (September 17, 2015 )

This is my first time to witness and experience Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. It is celebrated by Hindus as birthday of Lord Ganesha. Clay model of Lord Ganesh is placed on raised platforms and well decorated.  They pay tributes by offering coconut, jaggery, 21 'modakas' (rice flour preparation), 21 'durva' (trefoil) blades and red flowers. The idol is anointed with red unguent or sandal paste (rakta chandan).
